Get Back with the Pack! Pack 631 is Scouting On!

Welcome to Pack 631, Sponsored by Woodward Academy.  We had a great 2022-2023 School Year -- and we're not stopping.  We'll be lining up more great group activities like these and like these for the rest of 2023 and into 2024 so that your family can enjoy the best of Cub Scouting.  We're committed to being an "Every Parent Leads" Pack -- and we're providing every parent with the tools to succeed when they lead.

So look for camping and hiking and horseback riding and swimming and biking and fishing and trailblazing and more.  See the flyer attached for the events in the Spring and Summer of 2023 and in the planning stage for the full 2023-24 year, and we'll update this site as we add more.  Cub Scout Pack 631 is open to all boys and girls, Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, and their Parents who will collectively lead them!

Girls in Cub Scouting?  Yes, some of our most enthusiastic Scouts are girls!  We are open to girls joining us, with adult female leaders to help support them -- and we hope you are too, because we are stronger together.  And kindergarten kids too.  Stay tuned for details here on the website.  Once you Login, you will have access to all features of our Website.  Forgot how to Login? Email the Webmaster!  Not a member of the Pack, but think you might want to join?  See our About Us and How to Join page on the left menu bar.  See our FAQ pages.  Need even more info, please contact the Cubmaster or Pack Committee Chair.  Like our Facebook page and follow us at twitter.com/Bsa631Scouts.

Boy Scouts of America to Become "Scouting America"

Posted on May 8 2024 - 5:00pm

From a Press Release as announced at the National Annual Meeting of our program:

IRVING, Tex. (May 7, 2024) – The Boy Scouts of America today announced that it will rebrand to Scouting America, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to welcome every youth and family in America to experience the benefits of Scouting. The change will go into effect on February 8, 2025, the organization’s 115th anniversary.

This announcement also comes as the organization celebrates the fifth anniversary of welcoming girls into Cub Scouting and Scouts BSA programs. Scouting America currently serves more than 176,000 girls and young women across all programs, including over 6,000 who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

“Though our name will be new, our mission remains unchanged: we are committed to teaching young people to be Prepared. For Life,” said Roger A. Krone, president and chief executive officer of Scouting America. “This will be a simple but very important evolution as we seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome in Scouting.”

The full press release is at scoutingnewsroom.org/press-releases/boy-scouts-of-america-to-become-scouting-america/.  More at this On Scouting Blog.

What does this mean for us?  Hopefully people won't be confused by the name "Boy Scouts" and think that we are not open to girls joining.  Otherwise, really, not much: the mission, values, and core program remains the same.  And in other news, over the next year there will be a pilot program of mixed gender troops at the 6th through 12th grade level (which is how Troop 631 operated when our Troop of girls was active and may be how we operate in the future).
