The Universe Of Scouting
This is just the rough outline for a presentation I'm putting together. Feel free to add stuff.
- My unit may be my Scouting World, but it's not the Universe of Scouting
- District, Council and National events require parents and unit leaders as staff
- Statistics? How many volunteers are needed by program area per year in a council (training, event staff, etc)? How many volunteers would each UNIT in the council need to provide to cover that staffing need?
- Being chosen as staff isn't a right, it's a priveledge
- Units need to consider the District and Council calendar when planning their calendar
- To avoid scheduling confilcts
- So they can make Council events into UNIT events
- If your unit isn't supporting Council events, why should the Council support you?
My Unit is Scouting
To many parents and unit leaders the Scouting world is just their unit or maybe thier district. And while the most important part of scouting IS the unit, the bigger picture is that Scouting lives on many levels. What many adults don't understand is that Scouting depends on unit parents and leaders to function on ALL levels.
